LIVERY DINNER (JAN 2004)

Livery dinner in the City...lunch at the Savoy!....dinner at Boisedales!

This has certainly been a week of eating, drinking and smoking! Who said that the tobacco business was without fringe benefits??!!

Tuesday evening was enjoyed immensely with "The Worshipful Company of Tobacco Pipe makers and Tobacco blenders" at Painters Hall in the City of London. This is one of the oldest "Livery companies and the evening was quite splendid and rounded off with a marvellous tenor and soprano. I smoked 2 excellent Hoyo Piramides Limited edition maduros accompanied with a decent Bordeaux and later in the evening William Pickering 20 year old Tawny.

Wednesday lunch was at the invitation of Loretta cigars. The 2004 Pipe trade lunch held in the  River room of the Savoy hotel. Entertainment was provided by an extremely good comedian as well as speeches from comedy writer Laurence Marks and Michael Adler from Cadogan, makers of some of the finest pipes in the UK. I smoked one each of the new Trinidad cigars (Reyes,Coloniales and robusto extra) accompanied with a variety
of delightful libations (!)

Thursday I celebrated Burns night at Boisedales restaurant in the City with 12 of my regular smoking buddies. Boisedales is one of our favourite cigar friendly restaurants and boasts an incredible range of single malts as well as a first rate menu. I smoked Cohiba Siglo VI complimented with Glenfiddich 21 year old.....a very nice combination.

Possibly time for a diet!.....at least my cigars had no calories !
